Parmi ces toiles, des chefs-d\u2019\u0153uvre de la peinture fran\u00e7aise : Monet, Renoir, Pissarro, Degas, Delacroix. Cependant cette collection n\u2019appartient plus \u00e0 la France. En effet, au terme des accords d\u2019Evian, la collection rapatri\u00e9e en France est devenue la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 officielle du futur Etat alg\u00e9rien et le nouveau gouvernement ind\u00e9pendant entend la recouvrer.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/soleil.flo.free.fr\/AH%20!%20POULETFRITES%20Le%20site%20des%20tout-petits_fichiers\/corpshumain\/delacroix2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"459\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Le sort de l\u2019art \u00ab fran\u00e7ais \u00bb appartenant \u00e0 l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie sera l\u2019objet d\u2019\u00e2pres n\u00e9gociations pendant pr\u00e8s d\u2019une d\u00e9cennie avant que la France ne restitue la presque totalit\u00e9 des \u0153uvres au Mus\u00e9e des Beaux-Arts d\u2019Alger o\u00f9 elles constituent aujourd&rsquo;hui l\u2019une des plus grandes collections d\u2019art europ\u00e9en du continent africain.<\/p>\n<p>Cette communication examine non seulement la d\u00e9cision fran\u00e7aise d\u2019agir en contravention des accords d\u2019Evian, mais aussi la complexit\u00e9 culturelle du ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne de la d\u00e9colonisation dont les n\u00e9gociations men\u00e9es entre la France et l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie pour la restitution des \u0153uvres d\u2019art au Mus\u00e9e des Beaux-Arts d\u2019Alger sont un bon exemple. Qu\u2019est-ce qui est en jeu lorsque des \u0153uvres d\u2019art sign\u00e9es par quelques-uns des plus c\u00e9l\u00e8bres artistes fran\u00e7ais deviennent la propri\u00e9t\u00e9 culturelle d\u2019une ancienne colonie ? En outre, quels sont les enjeux li\u00e9s au d\u00e9sir d\u2019une ancienne colonie de revendiquer des \u0153uvres d\u2019art symboliques de l\u2019ancien colonisateur comme \u00e9l\u00e9ment pr\u00e9cieux du patrimoine culturel de la patrie postcoloniale ? Les n\u00e9gociations men\u00e9es dans le but de rapatrier l\u2019art fran\u00e7ais en Alg\u00e9rie mettent en exergue les refontes culturelles pr\u00e9cipit\u00e9es par le processus d\u00e9licat de la d\u00e9colonisation. Elles viennent \u00e9galement questionner les connexions qui subsistent au \u00ab d\u00e9senchev\u00eatrement \u00bb colonial, connexions qui ne sont pas si ais\u00e9ment reconnues dans le r\u00e9cit traditionnel de la \u00ab fin de l\u2019empire \u00bb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Andrew Bellisari<\/strong> est doctorant en histoire \u00e0 Harvard University aux Etats-Unis. Il m\u00e8ne actuellement des recherches en France et en Alg\u00e9rie pour son travail de th\u00e8se : <em>Colonial Remainders: Algeria, France, and the Culture of Decolonization, 1958-1970<\/em> (\u00ab Vestiges coloniaux : l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie, la France, et la culture de la d\u00e9colonisation, 1958-1970 \u00bb). En \u00e9tudiant la p\u00e9riode qui chevauche les derni\u00e8res ann\u00e9es de la lutte alg\u00e9rienne contre l\u2019occupation fran\u00e7aise et la deuxi\u00e8me d\u00e9cennie de l\u2019Alg\u00e9rie ind\u00e9pendante, son projet tente d\u2019examiner la mani\u00e8re dont la d\u00e9colonisation fut v\u00e9cue sur le terrain par les acteurs locaux et interroge le devenir des liens coloniaux complexes qui ont perdur\u00e9 apr\u00e8s la fin de l\u2019occupation coloniale. His current research explores the political and cultural processes (and consequences) of French decolonization in Algeria by examining the on-the-ground negotiations that took place between local actors and French colonial officials over patrimony, people, and property.Bellisari received his B.A. in History and French from Rutgers University in 2010.
