The Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI), located within the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs at the U.S. Department of State, is a unique program designed to engage directly with and invest in the peoples of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).  MEPI works to create partnerships with citizens to foster the development of pluralistic, participatory, and prosperous societies throughout the MENA region.  To do this, MEPI partners with local, regional and international non-governmental organizations, the private sector, academic institutions, and governments. The MEPI Leaders for Democracy Fellowship (LDF) Program is a three-month program in the United States designed to give young civic leaders from the Middle East and North Africa an opportunity to gain valuable knowledge, experience, and skills as well as networking opportunities with like-minded peers and professionals.
